Today I added a few pictures from our trip to Lost Maples State Park on November 13, 2012 to the Scenic Texas Gallery.
Today I added a few more pictures to the Rustic Gallery. I haven't had much time to take any new pictures lately, but plan on spending more time this fall with pictures. I have several more places where I want to take photos to add to the Rustic gallery.
Today I added a new Gallery showing butterflies I have photographed while taking flower pictures.
Yesterday, I ventured south and east of San Antonio, Texas looking for wildflower locations. I found that Highway 181 between Floresville, Tx and Kenedy, Tx has many places where the viewing is very good. I also found Highway 72 between Kenedy, Tx and Yorktown, Tx has lots of different kinds of wildflowers on both sides of the road. I also found many spectacular patches of wildflowers on Highway 119 between Yorktown, Tx and Stockdale, Tx, but there are stretches where there are almost no wildflowers. The spectacular ones make up for the spaces between.
This past week I have started going out and finding flowers all over the place. One of the best roads I have found this week is Highway 29 between Llano, Tx and Mason, Tx. All along this road on both sides are some really good Bulebonnets.
Also Willow City Loop off Highway 16 north of Fredericksburg, Tx is in full bloom right now.
There are also some good flowers on Highway 16 just to the south of Llano for several miles on both sides of the road.
There are also some good flowers on Ranch Road 783 between Doss, Tx and the intersection of Highway 87 near Mason, Tx.
Highway 71 near Marble Falls, Tx has some very good flowers between Highway 281 and Spicewood, Tx.
The Bluebonnets have started really popping out around San Antonio over the past 2 weeks. There are many beautiful stands around the west side of Loop 1604. There are several places that are accessible along the frontage roads where family photos can be taken in the Bluebonnets.
Well, I have started a new web site here, and plan to do a lot of traveling around central Texas over the next few months, taking pictures of wildflowers (it looks like we will have many this year unlike last year). When I find an exceptional flower location, I will publish some pictures as well as their location on Google maps on my other website: http://www.WildFlowersTexas.org. The pictures shown on this web site are just some of my favorite ones from across the years.
I am retired and enjoy traveling around central Texas taking photographs of the beauty I see.
